Generally, the first thing to do with this code is change the oil and filter. Since you need to replace the valve to fix the leak, I'd just replace the valve to fix the code.hoping you don't have an oil pressure to the cylinder head issue causing the code. You have a code that can be caused by either the switch, the solenoid (electrical,) the solenoid (mechanical,) or lack of oil pressure to the valve. You have an oil leak that you won't be able to fix without replacing the whole spool valve.Ģ. Aftermarket gaskets don't last so you'll be doing the job again to fix the leak.ġ. The one that leaks goes between the two halves of the valve itself and is NOT available. There is a gasket available for between the valve and the head but that's not the one that leaks. The gasket that is leaking is not available. Big surprise (not.).Īgain, you cannot replace all seals on the spool valve. On the bright side, they only require a 10mm socket/ratchet to replace the valve assembly. They aren't cheap so be ready for the sticker shock. Since you already have codes for the valve, AND a leak, I'd just recommend replacing the entire assembly. There are some aftermarket gaskets available but when I tried one it only lasted about 3 mos before it leaked again, requiring me to replace the entire spool valve. That o-ring type gasket is NOT sold separately by Honda. Second, most of the time the leaks from that rear spool valve (house the solenoid and oil pressure switch I mentioned) are from the o-ring between the two halves of the spool valve. I can tell you definitively that the code refers to the VTEC system Stuck On and that has to do with the oil pressure switch, solenoid, and spool valve on the rear cylinder head. It only tells you in which system the problem is in, allowing you to begin testing to find out what failed. A code does NOT tell you what part to change. From your code, nobody knows what anything needs to be replaced.
